    Vintage, classics and twinshocks

Where are all the old classic enduro bikes?

It would be great to see them in the Rally.

Ask yer Dad to drag out his old PE or Jawa.

Look at this link for inspiration...

Has anyone got one that needs an outing - let us know.

The ringing fins, the clouds of 2-stroke, the rubbish suspension, the dodgy riding gear...

    Come on guys...

If we get enough entries The Yorkshire Enduro Club is planning to run a Classic Enduro Bike Class in The Ryedale Rally next year.

There are lots of vintage enduro bikes here in Germany.
When the Isny MC organized the first vinduro in 1993 for its 70th anniversary, there were 40 riders with old stuff.
Last August there were 292 riders from nine nations. Most famous riders were the 5x European champion Gualtiero Brissoni and lang tall Herbert Schek, the BMW rider of the 60es and 70es. Now he is 75 and still riding his old GS 80.
If you want to ride a vintage event there is a choice of say 12-15 "Klassik-Gelaendefahrten" every year, famous stages like Isny, Mauer or Zschopau.

If you are interested in what we are doing here, have a look to
    the Enduro veterans website

Here you will find some links to reports about the 2009 events. You need not to understand German, just enjoy the pictures and you will understand the fun we have with the old stuff!

I still see and talk to quite a few of the old timers - I'll see who I can encourage along. I'd better find all the SWM parts and get the thing back together - at this advancing age 7 months isn't much time to get things sorted!!!!

What's the plan on bike ages? The more open it is the more chance of getting people there will be.

One thing - back then we all carried bum bags (for good reason); these days a tail-end-charlie LWB Sprinter might be more use

My name is Hans Kaart from the Netherlands.
Hopefullly i will be entering the classic rally with my finally finished Hercules 175 GS 1976.
The set up sounds like fun for a less experienced rider like me.

entry classes for classic enduro machines

    Hi Clive,

    Great to hear from you.

The plan for the classes is by age rather than capacity. Up to 1976, 1980 and 1984.

We'll be issuing Regs early in the new year so watch the usual sites.

As this is our first foray into classics and veterens we're keen for advice and feedback so please keep in touch - and thanks for spreading the word.

We usually have lots of travelling marshals - some on quads so we shouldn't need the van... famous last words...

    All the best,

    DD

Hi Hans - that's great news.

Keep in touch and we'll start thinking about accommodation and ferry times nearer the time of the event.

Looking forward to seeing the GS

    All the best,

    DD
