I'm just a few weeks away from being 44 now and have been riding in the O/40 class for a while. However I think I'll have to go back down to clubman as in reality it's the "slightly older experts class". Due to there being insufficient riders to split the class into A(expert) and B(clubman) sub divisions I'm left having to ride for a finish as I'm way off the pace of the fast lads. At the Harwood their test times are equal to or better than the top experts! And that's a regular occurance.
If there was a distinction made, more riders might be tempted into the class but I do understand why things are as they are at present. It just gets a bit frustrating as the O/40 class is the classless class. Running on the clubman schedule tells you what standard of rider the class is for, but the test times show this not to be the case for a lot of the competitors.
This isn't a complaint or criticism but more an observation.
I actually really enjoyed the event and loved a lot of the technical going. Though some of those ditches got a bit nasty on the second lap! And my freshly blown out exhaust has got a huge ding in it again, Bugger!
